Renowned Artist, and Decatur Native, Ron English to Paint Mural in July.

June 27th, 2017

The first of three murals to be painted for the Decatur Mural Project in 2017 will be at 730 E. Cerro Gordo St, Decatur, IL (east wall of Ken’s Aquarium and Pet Supply building) in a neighborhood bustling with antique and flea market activity.  The mural is sponsored by Tate & Lyle.

The DAAC Public Art Committee and building owner have selected a design by renowned artist Ron English.  He will complete the mural during the week of July 10-13, 2017.

Ron English is one of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive today, English has produced images on the street, in museums, in movies, books and television around the world.  He is widely considered the “Godfather of Street Art.”  We are very excited about having a “Ron English” gracing a wall in our community.

What makes this project even more exciting is that Ron English grew up in Decatur and is a graduate of Lakeview High School.  English will be accompanied by film maker Constant van Hoeven, who is creating a documentary about English’s life and collecting images and information about his years in Decatur.
