New Mural To Be Painted at 1920 N. Oakland Ave. Beginning May 10.

The Decatur Area Arts Council Public Art Committee has arranged for a new mural to be painted at 1920 N. Oakland Ave. (on the north wall of the Decatur House of Prayer building).  The mural is sponsored by The Beautify Decatur Coalition, with additional materials and equipment assistance provided by Lowe's and the Decatur House of Prayer.

After his design was chosen by the sponsor and the building owner, local artist Jerry Johnson worked to refined a few details through discussions with representatives from each organization.  Delayed due to COVID and rainy spring weather, Johnson will begin work on the mural on May 10, 2022, He anticipates it will take a couple of weeks to complete with the help of volunteers from the Beautify Decatur Coalition and the Decatur House of Prayer.
