A living, breathing symphony experience

Come see students from the Decatur Youth Symphony and the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra perform together and demonstrate how musicians can join their friends to play fun and exciting music as part of a living breathing symphony orchestra. The audience will learn what the members of the group experience while they perform and get a chance to meet many members of the ensemble. Students will also have an opportunity to participate in the performance and experience music from a variety of genres that an orchestra can play, including classical, jazz, contemporary, and folk. They will leave excited about the possibility of playing an instrument themselves and have a greater understanding of what it’s like to play music in a large ensemble.

Recommended grades: 1st through 5th grades

A part of the DAAC Performing Arts Series for Students (PASS) designed to open doors to learning through the performing arts. Four high quality shows have been chosen with your students in mind. Please reserve seats for the program(s) that best suit the needs of your class. Remember, the learning continues in the classroom long after the performance is over.
