Indiana born artist, Barbara Rogers Houseworth (1925-2015), spent most of her life in the Champaign-Urbana area. Barbara received a Fine Arts degree from Indiana University in 1946 and exhibited in the Indiana Artists Exhibitions at the John Herron School of Art, but the majority of her artworks have remained unseen in the collection of her daughters, until now. A fine example of a Midwestern genre artist, Barbara painted the things she saw and experienced as a housewife and mother in the 1950s and 1960s. Therefore, most of her paintings and drawings are focused on portraits of her family and friends. Her works range from ink drawings on scraps of paper to paintings on canvas.
