After the long winter, DAAC’s April exhibit will celebrate the return of color with two local artists who use color in bright and exciting ways. Jan’s soft sculptures feature colors and forms that seem to be bursting right off the walls! Mikayla’s 2D work has dynamic color and movement all its own. Everything about this exhibit is bright, fresh and happy! You will leave the gallery with a smile on your face after experiencing these works, overflowing with whimsy and joy!

Gallery Field Trips: Open to school and community groups of all ages – Includes a guided tour through the gallery exhibit and a related art project in the studio with an instructor. By appointment during gallery hours (M-F, 9 am-4 pm). Ask about available scholarships!

Jan Brandt is an artist working in mixed-media, textiles, printmaking, and painting. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, both from Illinois State University in Normal, IL. Mikayla Murray is a Macon County native who was born in the 90s and raised in the era of Beanie Baby maximalism, I Spy books, and Lisa Frank school supplies. In keeping with this over-the-top childhood aesthetic, Murray produces vibrant and intricate acrylic abstract paintings on canvas and found objects.
